I have got an account on a shared server which has got PHP5, and want to use Drupal (or at least give it a try). I have tried mambo but I think it generates too messy HTML and is sometimes slow.
However, I read Drupal does not support PHP5. What can I do to run Drupal now, and when can I expect a PHP5 version (or is there one already? I don't mind a 'hacked' version as long as I can upgrade to future versions).

Your best bet is to use the CVS version and to use the chameleon theme or any theme that does not use the xtemplate engine.

If you have troubles with a particular contrib project, please consider filing a support request. Thanks. And, by the way, Drupal 4.5 does not work with PHP 5.

As killes said, It is possible to run Drupal on PHP5 if you are not using XTemplate, but do not expect the high quality of Drupal -- things most probably *will* break. So, giving it a try is fine, everybody benefits if you find and properly report the bugs (if they are not duplicates) -- the best is if you are submitting a patch, but that is not expected, not everyone is a programmer.
Running a production site however is, well, risky.
