I'm looking for a permission for a non-admin-user to view and edit unowned, unpublished content. (Nodes) Is there any chance to get that into Content Access? I know about that view_unpublished module. But I like to multifunctioning modules, modules that do all stuff of a topic in one piece.

If you are doing something with publishing: It would also be a good idea to integrate a permission to publish or unpublish content. Sometimes user should not publish without review by a moderator or admin. I saw your rules solution in http://drupal.org/node/371708#comment-form. Still I think it would be a good enhencment for the module to have all in the same place.

Okay, thanks for thinking about it! Great module anyway!

+1 this, though I don't think it will be integrated, especially with the comments from this thread: https://drupal.org/node/1147526

There's a functionality gap in node-access contrib modules it seems.

You can use Content Access to control view, edit, delete operations on a specific node or content type on a per-role or per-user basis. However, it doesn't mess with unpublished permissions at all. If a node is unpublished, this module will not assign any grants to the node.

You can use View Unpublished to control view operations on a specific content type on a per-role basis. It does not provide help for the edit and delete operations for unpublished content.

So, looks like there is no way to allow a user with a specific role to View/Edit/Delete a specific node if it's published or unpublished, unless that user has the permission "bypass access control" or that user is the owner of the node
