I needed to display a caption in the node for a colorbox image so I created a little module that adds the option to the Colorbox field display format settings.

Is anyone else interested in this feature?

This feature could be integrated into the Colorbox module with some tweaking or I could apply for "full project access" to take it out of the sandbox.
