Sort Term List by Depth as well as Weight

I've got a vocabulary of terms some of which will have child terms. When a term is made a child term the weights are automatically reassigned starting at 0 again. Well if if want a view to sort the list of terms by weight the child terms rise up to the top of the list and are not listed under their parent terms.

It would be fantastic if there was a sort by depth so that this could be done easily within the UI....

Have searched the drupal.org site and there's been some talk about that in older versions of drupal and views but doesn't seem to have ever gotten anywhere.

Do the Drupal Gods have any workarounds for this?.....Anyone heard of a module that gives this functionality? Will future versions of views have this functionality?
