These are all great opinions and feedback, but it's painfully slow to go through them all. Unfortunately, I'm an IA/creative and not a developer.

Users should be able to post text reviews and give a 1-5 star rating for each listed ISP. It would be way more helpful than trolling through the forum's threads.

You'd need extra data fields for the following:

  • monthly fees
  • shell access
  • storage space
  • bandwidth allowance
  • tech support (1-5 rating)
  • uptime (1-5 rating)

Short of that, can anyone tell me how set up child forums for the major ISPs like 1 and 1, MediaTemple, and Mosso? That way, feedback is filtered to the ISPs that you're actually evaluating.

the idea sounds good but i wouldn't use a forum to do this.

i would using a cck setup so it is more organised, that way you could get a a-z list of hosts for people to check and other features.
