is it possible to have rules integration with this module? Ex. Event: User shares content via Twitter, facebook etc.

That is a very cool idea, however it would be non-trivial to implement. Currently buttons are just links. In order to trigger events, javascipt based triggers or a submit and redirect scheme would have to be implemented.

Maybe someday we will have a client who needs this type of functionality, but I would have to have a commercial use case to justify it.

sounds good, hopefully I can become that client in the future, I'll have to see.
anyway in my use case:
I have set up achievements using rules, flags, fields etc, so I was thinking about awarding points to users who share content.
