it seems like a nice feature to be able to highlight the words on the page that are in the referrer if the vistitor comes from a well known search engine. should probably be doen in a hook and implemented in a theme. so users googles for "lawyer" and php-nuke, clicks a search result, http://www.drop.org/node.php?id=987 and sends his referrer to the drupal sites. drupal hightlight these words in the text.

I would feel a lot better about this if it could be turned off somehow by a button on the page, and/or by something in a registered user's preferences. It's the kind of thing that would be really useful sometimes, for people that don't know how to use their browser's Find feature, but would be sort of annoying the rest of the time. (Of course, I guess I could just leave the module turned off for my installation.)
Perhaps search words could be put into a and there could be some javascripted control that resets the CSS style for that class to normal, or reloads the page without the special highlighting.
Another area where this kind of highlighting could be useful is in an individual site's search results: showing a found keyword in a line or two of context can be very helpful in figuring out if that's the link one wants to follow.

nedjoThere is now a highlight module that could handle the highlighting. What's needed is a query string in the form:
highlight=word1,word2,word3
