Can't get comments block to appear

I've created my node-story.tpl.php which I've laid out using the various $node variables. Example, I've pulled out $node->body, $node-deck, etc... Problem that I am having is that i have no idea how to show the comments. Comments only seem to appear when I use print $content. Is there anyway to display the comments in my own rendered story template?
I'm a newbie so any guidance would be appreciated.
