I'm using Media 1.x so I don't know if you've implemented this already, but I think it would be a very good idea for the developer to be able to allow all file extensions for a certain field. Sure, it can be a security risk but it makes it more flexible and a warning message should be enough to alert the developer to the risks.

I think you'll find http://drupal.org/project/allow_all_file_extensions could be useful for this purpose.

Does that work with Media 2.x? It doesn't work with 1.x, you see.
