With menu Block installed, if I click on the top level of a drop-down menu, this seems to disable display of the small arrows indicating further sub-levels in the drop-down. Clicking on a second-level items restores display of these arrows. The attached jpeg illustrates this, the left-hand side showing how the menu should look, the right-hand side how it looks after clicking a top-level item.

JohnAlbinSounds like a CSS issue with your display of the menu block. I've never seen classes disappear like you suggest.
