When i add images to the blog it seem to cut them in half can i fix this in any way?

Try playing around with your content types.
Under admin / structure / content types choose your blog-content type.
In this field you can manage the image style for teaser view. etc. of your blog-posts.
If you want to change the image-style check admin / configuration / image styles.
