How to pass field values to from content type A to content type B?

Hi,

I have a rule whereby when content type A is created I want other content type B to be created. I want this to only happen when the fields are not empty. So for example, if content type A only has the body field filled in then that is the only content type created. However, if content type A has an image field that isn't empty then I want a content type B to be created with the image field passed to that node. Basically splitting fields in to separate nodes.

How can this be done, where the image field from content type A is passed to content type B if it is not empty and to assign proper ownership to the nodes? I also want to pass a node reference to all nodes but that's for later. I want to get this issue sorted first, but any clues on that too would be appreciated too.

I'm not sure I've explained this too well so please say so if I haven't and I'll try and explain more clearly.
