Is there any facilitation for Site Visitor Counter in drupal 7? The Counter Module it has out dated. Help !

It is in core in Statistics module. However, I guess it counts by reads per node read, not by unique IPs, though it cannot be hard to do (or you can use one of the very many free hit counter scripts from third party services).
