i have created a menu by name weblogs, the message this is the message got

Created new menu item weblogs.
Since a menu item home already exists for , this new menu item was created as a shortcut to that location.

I dont want any shortcuts to other menus (created by nodes). How to create menus without shortcut...

Only one menu item may have a unique target path, all others created with the same path will be shortcuts to the first menu item...If you do not want a shortcut, then move the original menu item where you want it.

No, i would like to have a new custom menu say weblog. When i click on "add menu", i get title for the link and then "what ever i enter" goes as shortcut under an existing menu, ooof!

This menu is now created as shortcut (though no menu with name weblog is present under menu) to an existing menu, then while adding a sub-menu-item i need to enter the path and parent item.

Why is it so? It should ask for the unique link (target path) while adding menu and then i can assign menu-items (say weblog/1, weblog/3 etc.,) to the same.

Whatever I put in for the Title of a new menu in the add menu page it is created as a short cut to the last menu item created. I tried making one called qretwhjhwryttbetrghtehrtwhjtr, and it got created as a shortcut to Community, which was already a shortcut to User Points, which the machine created when I installed the modules.

For menu Items I get this result if I leave the path empty, but not if I assign a path. I'm not sure any of this matters for me though, since I haven't tried to creat my own menu items until I started testing this message and the Menus aren't clickable, and it doesn't seem it matters what they might be a shortcut for.

I'm assuming this is being generated by pathauto, since it didn't do this before I installed that module. But I went in and filled in every last field in the pathauto config with a pattern, and it seemed to generate paths according to those rules, but still generated the message about making a shortcut when I create a new menu, or attempt to create a new menu item without specifying a path. Incedentally, it will not allow me to do that... I get the message that it was created as a short cut, but I also get an error and am required to specify a path before the item is created.
