Can anyone tell me if there is a release schedule for the upcoming CVS HEAD branch? I've poked around in the forums but couldn't find anything. It appears that this site uses something later the 4.1. How stable is this release?

Thanks,

CVS Drupal is remarkably stable, and many of us use it for production sites. if you do decide to do this, subscribe to the devel and support mailing lists and you'll get a feeling for the current state of the code.

as for a release schedule, we don't have a formal one. we have a an informal understanding that when dries starts maintaining the 'ciritical issues' list, we are near a release. since we have had this list going for a couple weeks now, I'd say a release is near. Near means more than a month and less than 6 months. Anything more more precise is guesswork.

Moshe is right; the current HEAD branch is quite stable and a new release could be near. More specifically, we will enter a code freeze and branch of a new development branch as soon as the number of release critical bugs (those filed against the Drupal project only, not those that affect the contributions repository) is sufficiently small.

If we all help to kill some of the outstanding critical bugs, we might freeze the code by the end of this week. However, if it takes us another 3 months to kill the remaining issues, we won't release anywhere soon.

Thus, the sooner we fix the outstanding issues, the sooner we can freeze the code and the sooner we can start preparing a new release. In the mean time, small and medium-sized improvements continue to find their way into the HEAD branch. Bigger changes do not.

Ok, that sounds like a call to arms to me. Everyone with PHP abilities should take one bug and beat it down!

What about the 4.1.1 release (a bugfix release for 4.1.0)?

There are certain amount of fixes on DRUPAL-4-1-0 branch, why not release them?
