This makes it really hard to follow. I can't actually use this as an example, since it's referring to pieces of other examples. It should be a standalone component that can be studied apart from the node and block examples.

Actually it's referring to objects generated by contextual_links_example_object_load(), which generates stub objects simply so you can see how the contextual menu attaches to them.

I agree it's a bit unclear to the uninitiated.

Submit a patch if you have a better way to word it, or a better example scenario.
