I just started working with OpenLayers and I'm not sure what components are involved so I'll just describe my problem.
I've got a map and a page that accesses the map. When I attempt to add a point to the map I have to right click to do so. Is this as designed? I couldn't find any documentation in the eBook (Mapping with Drupal)
The other thing I would like is a way to restrict the number of points that can be added to a map in a single node. Is this possible?

nirad CreditAttribution: nirad commentedI have the exact same problems. I would think many people want the option of simply creating one point, not multiple points or polygons. This is how the GMaps module, and many websites, work.
And it does appear that one has to right-click first in order to get the behavior of adding points- is this a conflict with using the left mouse button to pan the map? Does it work at all on a single button Mac? I don't own one so I haven't tried.
(This could be considered two separate issues.)

ifrikWhich module are you using to input the data? Geofield or something different?
The issue is probably more related to that issue but for that we need to know which one you are using.
