The Views main configuration panel contains two further settings for exposed settings, under the advanced section.

They allow the following options:

  • Exposed form in block: This option moves the exposed settings from the view header to a completely separate block. Placing exposed search filters in a block on your site may serve as a customized search box. The block must be placed in a region to be visible.
  • Exposed form style: This allows you to set whether end users are required to set exposed filter values, or if all fields may be empty. Sub settings allow you to set the text displayed to the end users on things such as the button to execute the settings. (See figure 10.6)

Figure 10.6: You can customize the text strings displayed on the exposed settings.

TIP: Moving exposed settings to a block normally only works if the view has a page display. Otherwise Views doesn't know to which path end users should be redirected when using the exposed settings.
