Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
Currently, when one would want to refresh just the main content area of a page in some AJAXy module, it's not possible because you can't know where to insert the new content.
This adds a wrapper div with id="main-content" around the output of the $content variable in all core themes.
If committed, I'll add a paragraph to the theming docs that all themes are advised to do so too to not break compatibility with modules that are going to make use of $('#main-content').
