I've tried & failed to get either ffmpeg or Zencoder working.
All I want to do is get a preview image on a video using jw player.
The manual thumbnail upload would do fine for me - but I can't get even that to work. Does it require the transcoder to be installed correctly to get manual thumbnails??

I've set up a content type with a field Video, widget Video Upload. I have "don't create thumbnail" selected, and have uploaded a default thumbnail.
On the edit page, I have "Use the default thumbnail for this video" ticked and it has the correct thumbnail image showing there.

But, I still have a black video player with no thumbnail on the actual page.
Please help, I'm pretty desperate now!

It is not your fault, the code was just not providing the thumbnail properly to JW Player. I have updated the code. This should be fixed in the next development release, which is rebuilt once per day.

I just installed the 1 May, 7.x-2.x-dev version, but unfortunately I still don't have my default thumbnail showing. Is there anything else I need to do?

That is strange. I have set the same parameters as you and it works for me. Can I see the page with the player online somewhere?

Many apologies - I hadn't correctly installed your new version of Video. The default thumbnail is now appearing so I'm delighted!

I've now installed the module on my online site. Amazingly, the Zencoder has worked here and I recived an API key. Maybe I'll get those auto-thumbnails working now!??

That should work. Getting Zencoder to work on a local site (127.0.0.1) is not trivial, unfortunately.

My manually uploaded thumbnail keeps disappearing from the video player.
I can reload it to get it to appear, but it seems to disappear again later on.

I've resorted to using one default thumbnail, but this isn't showing in Internet Explorer.

I have found the source of the problem and fixed it. Please update to the latest -dev version to get the fix. -dev versions are rebuilt twice a day, so you need to wait at least 12 hours to get the fix.
