EditView individual field items - using the default form rendering [#154782]

I have a coupld of problems with the Editview as it stands, fantastic though it is...

1/ Most of my CCK types dont use the "title" field, so I use automatic title generation. This seems to be incompatible. More generally, I'm not sure how it works, but it would be good if all the fields were treated exactly as they would be if you were editing the node normally. Any "theming" should be left to the interested user :-) Would this then help the "automatic title generation" thing too? And the node -reference thing that I've seen reported elsewhere?

2/ Sometimes I would like to write an editview that displays some fields, and allows editing of others. In other words, somehow each field in the view should be selected as editable, rather than the whole set....
This would be a big change I think, but I think it would add a HUGE amount of power... you could then build a form where you only change one column of data etc....

Any ideas gratefully received, I may have a little time to spend trying to implement this....

I'm using editview to quickly show all images uploaded and allow users to edit title and taxonomy terms. Almost there, but I require the same option to show fields without being able to edit them. I'll look into this now as I need the image display field to show a thumbnail.

This issue is about 2 different things. #1 is satisfied by not including title in the view, and #2 correlates to #635076: Allow read-only display of fields. Since #635076: Allow read-only display of fields is more focused, and since both this and the other issue have about the same amount of progress (zero :-) ), setting this issue as duplicate of that one.
