Hi,
I asked my ISP if they could install Solr on their webserver. This was their response:
==============================================
Upon doing some further research I have found the Solr requirements:
http://wiki.apache.org/solr/SolrInstall
Our Managed servers do not support JAVA servlets as required by the SOLR module and therefore can not be installed.
We urge customers to consider alternative methods to implement a solution (which do conform to our standard environment), otherwise customers may consider a TruServ server where customers have total freedom to implement bespoke solutions.
My apologies for not noticing this sooner.
==============================================
Is this the case? Do i need to find a hosting provider that supports Java servlets in order to be able to run Solr?
Thanks

dasjohi,
you can try using the database integration of search_api and please report how it is going.
for larger recruiter deployments, we recommend using the standard setup in combination with a SOLR server though, as the database search just won't scale good enough.

Thanks for your response.
Have a look at my module settings for search_api and solr_search. Attached screenshots. Both are enabled. However, the search on Create_Job_per_file_upload does not work. Type in "English" under language, you would expect it to find it. Do i need to disable solr_search? It gave errors when I did that?
Thanks

dasjosolartoasting, what you are referring to actually seems not to have anything to do with solr search at all.
the required languages field on the job form is a taxonomy field enhanced by the autocomplete deluxe module.
which languages are available will be defined at http://your.recruiter.site/admin/structure/taxonomy/languages

That helps a lot. I added the Taxonomy terms and I can now create jobs.
I am trying to enable DB Search API over SOLR search now, to be able to search jobs and resumes.
Will let you know how I progress.
Many Thanks
