It would be useful to be able to have two modal window instances open at the same time.

Currently, if I open a form in a modal window, and want to offer a help page from that form, I cannot open the help page in it's own modal window, because it replaces the form window.

It would be, but at this time there is one and only one modal window and the modal design is such that it will not be changeable. Sorry. :(

does this also apply to the following:

opening node/add/mycontenttype
clicking on the media link which has a popup of some sort?
