Now that #911054: Remove Garland from Core is implemented for D8, I understand that we need a 8.x branch in order to have our favorite theme. What I don't get is the purpose of having a 7.x branch. Shed some light please. Thanx in advance.

klonosI'm afraid I don't. I simply went through the issue queue and saw an issue filed under 7.x: #1437390: Changing top links. That's why I asked in the first place.

(Should someone want to work on this, and be prepared to fix issues on D8 first and back port, please request co-maintainership :)
