Custom Form Submit button keeps redirecting to homepage. How can I stop this?

Hi, I am new to Drupal. Im creating a PHP form that takes user input and retrieves specific information from my database and then prints them in a tabular format on the same page, the problem I am having is that; after the user clicks the submit button they are redirected to the front page without ever seeing the result. How do I keep them on the same page without promoting that page to the front page? Please I need help Urgently. Thanks in advance.
