That is, when uploading several files into a single field, those could be named (using File (Field) Paths) for example [node:title]-[file:counter].[file:ffp-extension-original] with [file:counter] being the order-number of the file in the field.

I don't see a way for this to be possible in Token module since file tokens don't have any kind of field context. Likely filefield paths would have to support this token.
