General integration with MailChimp

Hello everybody,

I have a rather general recurring problem, and I would like to ask your opinion, who are more experienced with MailChimp.
The general requirement is, to maintain a custom database full with custom contact data. Using this database I need to create a number of mailing lists and send newsletters to them, using a newsletter template. I have chosen MailChimp because they offer unlimited nr. of e-mail for a very good price.

My only issue is that somehow I need to integrate it with Drupal to
- be able to create and use templates
- send and monitor the success rate of the sendings
- be able to send a quite large number of daily e-mails
- full integration with my custom contact table

Is ChimpMail a good point to start? What is your opinion? What is already done and what should be customized?
