I've put my search block into the Sidebar Left in my site configuration. In the block configuration, I have set the block to show no matter what the user chooses, and I have checked all 3 boxes so that any user should see this block. The block shows up when I am logged in as admin.

The moment I log off, the search block disappears. I can't understand why since it is set to show no matter what. The code is merely being written out by PHP for the sidebar...

So I can't see how I would have messed anything there - the value of $sidebar_left should include my search block but it doesn't... any suggestions?

Home > User Management > Access control, switch on search content under search module access for anonymous users.

I suggest leaving the user roles options unchecked since no checks means its available for any user to see. Between this and mango's suggestion, I bet this solves it. If not, do you have othe blocks appearing properly for the anonymous user?
