Everytime I try to attach the XLS feed to a block or a page, the page always displays, The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Several users report similar problems with Ajax errors etc. I had the same. I found this module http://drupal.org/project/views_data_export that does the XLS export just fine. This could be the reason that this issue list is relatively silent.

It works fine with latest dev and fresh drupal+views install.
