Pretty simple problem. "Openlayers Data Overlay" is not showing up in my list of Views formats...the only thing that shows up is "Openlayers Map". Am I missing something? Did the instructions for creating a view change since this?

That should be availabe as a display format, do you have that at the same place you add a content pane, block, page in views ?

I'm having the exact same issue. We've done quite a few openlayers maps before and haven't had this issue so I'm wondering if it is a conflict with another module, maybe the latest views we just updated to. I'll post back if I figure out why the display format is missing for us...

@nod_

Whoops. I get it. I was thinking that you changed the view format...but it's like adding a new block (except you select "Open Layers Overlay". Thanks.

I don't get it yet. How do I add an OpenLayers Data Overlay display? Once I know how it's done, I will edit the docs to clarify this.

  1. Enable the module OpenLayers Views
  2. Create a view
  3. Add the display type "OpenLayers Data Overlay"
  4. Select the Format "OpenLayers Data Overlay"

Ugh. I had not yet enabled the OpenLayers Views module. That's why I was missing the OpenLayers Data Overlay display option.

Well... I REALLY do NOT get "Openlayers Data Overlay" in my list... But indeed I do get "Openlayers Map". So exactly the problem as described originally.
Unfortunately, I already DO have Openlayers View activated in Modules and I DID try to create a new view, either as a page, a block, both and none, but still no "Openlayers Data Overlay" where everybody so happily refers to... :(
https://www.calibrate.be/labs/using-openlayers-and-geofield-display-maps...
https://www.drupal.org/node/1481374
http://purewebmedia.biz/article/2014/08/01/create-multi-layer-map-drupal...
I even tried to CLONE "OpenLayers Example Data Overlay" but then strangely, the two options that appear are:
- Openlayers VECTOR Data Overlay and
- Openlayers IMAGE Data Overlay
which do not show the same options as described in those pages.
And I just want to create a layer for Taxonomy Icons (I guess the main use of maps on a website anyway), but they don't show up either as a possible field to choose from.
I have been stuck on this for two weeks now... Not yet as much as so many other Drupal problems that have kept me from advancing over the years, but it's getting as despairing as ever...

EDIT: By the way D7.34, OpenLayers 7.0-2.0-beta11 and Views 7.x-3.10 on several websites, both local as on the internet.

Reopened issue for exactly the same problem as was described in the first place and that seemed to be solved (user simply had no activated OpenLayer Views).

This message is part of the issue cleanup initiative.

Openlayers 2.x has been deprecated since the release of Openlayers 3.x the 31 December 2015.
If you want to stay on 2.x, you should try with the latest version of the 2.x release.

However, I strongly encourage you to move on version 3.
Version 3 is much more stable than version 2. It does not yet contain all the features but the main ones are there.

I'll close this thread, feel free to reopen it if needed.

Thanks for your understanding.
