not sure how to work around this, as node_type table doesn't have ID's for the different content types (bad design).
More of a bug for drupal core than anything else.
Anyone else running into this problem should go change the 'type' in the contemplate table.

jjeff CreditAttribution: jjeff commentedHmmm... Yeah... I don't know if there are any hooks to tie into if/when the machine name is changed. There really ought to be about 18 levels of "confirm" that an admin needs to go through before changing that value.
