I would like to know how does Drupal and MySQL handle mega huge sites? I mean sites with tens of thousands of nodes and database with hundreds of megabytes? Are there limits to the size of a site with Drupal? Any experience or thoughts?

Spread Firefox Handles Fairly Well
We certainly had some issues during our slashdottings (we went down a number of times, sometimes sporadically for days). But that was because we had Drupal and the DB on the same server... and we overloaded the server a couple times with certain modules, when we added Squid and by the sheer fact that 90% of the traffic to the server was coming from people's Firefox buttons!
So, if you can separate the DB on a separate server and not host Firefox buttons, you should be fine with the latest version of Drupal!
If you have more specific questions, let me know and I'll put you in touch with Daryl, the SFX tech guy.
