After installing the newest -dev [2012-Jan-01 release — this may also be the case for the new recommended -alpha2 release of the previous day], as the Project page now says, Calendar Items has been deprecated and replaced with Calendar Entities.
When I went into an existing View (the cal_events one created by the Date Tools Event Calendar Wizard), I Added a new Page. Under “FORMAT”, it now says: “Calendar Items (DEPRECATED, switch to Calendar Entities) | Settings”
So, I clicked on it, and sure enough, up pops the Views Format selector with radio buttons:
Page 4: How should each row in this view be styled
For: [This display (override)]
○ Calendar Entities
◉ Calendar Items (DEPRECATED, switch to Calendar Entities)
○ Content
○ Fields
○ Panel fields
○ Rendered entity
You may also adjust the settings for the currently selected row style.
[ Apply (this display) ] [ Cancel ]
So, I click the top item, “Calendar Entities.” The dialog now looks like this:
Page 4: How should each row in this view be styled
For: [This display (override)]
◉ Calendar Entities
○ Calendar Items (DEPRECATED, switch to Calendar Entities)
○ Content
○ Fields
○ Panel fields
○ Rendered entity
You may also adjust the settings for the currently selected row style.
[ Apply (this display) ] [ Cancel ]
I then click the “Apply (this display)” button, and the Views UI page refreshes.
But now, under “FORMAT”, instead of the expected “Calendar Entities | Settings” that should’ve appeared, we now see “Calendar Items (DEPRECATED, switch to Calendar Entities) | Settings”!
The only difference from before is that both the “Calendar Items (DEPRECATED…” amd “Settings” links are now italicized, as they should be for a setting that had been overridden in a Display vs. the Master.
Well, I thought that maybe that was just a UI display glitch, so I clicked on the link again, but sure enough, it appears exactly as it did the first time, with the second radio button, the one for the deprecated Calendar Items instead of the first radio button for the new Calendar Entities which I had just clicked and Applied, selected!
Moreover, when I click on the “Settings” link, I get the same old dialog box that I would get for Calendar Items!

All my dependancies are catered for, but I'm having this issue.

Joel MMCC CreditAttribution: Joel MMCC commentedIt’s fixed for me now, but I don’t know why. Probably because of Calendar -dev or other Module updates (especially Date, CTools, or Views; the three that KarenS says should be updated together whenever possible), or perhaps something in D7 core with the recent upgrade to 7.12 (was 7.10 — 7.11 was a Security upgrade, and 7.12 incorporates that plus other bug fixes galore, perhaps including things related to Fieldable Entities that might’ve been causing this).
Others who’ve had this issue, try it now after upgrading Drupal 7 Core to 7.12, and all four of the aforementioned Modules to the latest -dev releases. If all of you also report it fixed, then we should mark this Issue “Closed (fixed).”
