Installing Special Menu Items along side the Menu Position causes menu-position-generated breadcrumb trails to break. This happens even if the breadcrumb trail does not include a special menu item.

Wolfgang Reszel, thank you for sharing this. The incompatibility with Menu Position is a major issue in my opinion, but the patch you have provided solves the problem.
