What is the current roadmap for this project? In particular D7. How much effort is put into this project? How is the commercial support working out?

I m starting taking over a business which will be opperated by my fiance. We would like to start using an erp since it involves a lot of administration. The previous owner of 72y old did everything with paper. I m a freelance drupal dev so if we would start using this module I ll definetly contribute back everything we add.

But right now whats important for us to know is the stability of the D7 branch, its features, its roadmap, the support, where is it been used for, ...

Maybe combining our efforts would be a good idea? We might start a group and start attracting other people in with more experience to start growing this project?

Let me know what you guys think and want. We should discuss this.

I'm very interested in the D7 port, but from what I have read so far, it's more a rebuild than a port, with alot of work on the migration part taking time.

I agree a roadmap would be great, but code would be even better to play with and comment on.

Let's hope with more interest comes more things to play with.

Thanks

You are right Lee, the work i've done so far has been on trying to utilise as much "core" drupal 7 code as possible, rather then writing new entity modules etc.

I'm planning on much more of a rewrite, than a port, as I think that erp is at the stage that it requires it. After all, it wa originally written for Drupal 4.7, and we've been using it since then.

I think this will also make future upgrades easier.

I have also been doing work with Openlayers on our local d6 version to do funky things like map the location of all customers, and map the purchases for the last month.

I do have a lot of features+views+import module code which I'm almost ready to upload, but other modules have taken precedence while erp is still working nicely on d6.

I am working on it, great to see people keen!

Nice quick response, must be late in OZ.

D4.7 - wow, that explains allot of the comments and code. Why did you only post the code for D6?

Yes, ERP for D6 is working nicely, but I am worried about working too much on D6 version and then have to rework on D7 version, that is why I think allot of people would like to see what ever code you have. Then we can work on the parts that interest us, but I'm sure you know and understand this.

I would rather use a Drupal system, than use one of the alternates on the internet, like www.freshbooks.com ... Means I can extend and customize till my little heart is content!!

Yes, bring it on!! Please commit D7 rewrite. I want to play .. ;-)

I've just committed the D7 rewrite to date as a new 7.x-2.x branch.

However, I've just started working on custom code for the "lines" widget, and so things are in quite a state of flux at the moment. The reliance on field_collection & field_collection table for invoice, quote, po, goods receive will be removed once I finish the lines widget, and that will greatly simplify the structure of the data tables.

This will also require lots of changes to the upgrade script.

I know that some of you are keen to know if there is any progress, so I thought it worth giving some idea on where my plan is at/heading.

No ETA for final version at this stage, juggling work and play ;-)

I wonder if it's worth rolling a finally build of the D6 install profile before closing this issue?

Hey Simon, thank you for your time spent on this project. I really appreciate it!

I try to will help as much as I can with testing (I have a big family and my wife too and there's a lot of our cousins starting their businesses, so we'll have a wide range of "testing ground") and with documentation as well as triaging support issues in the queue so you have less to do with that and focus on coding.

I think it would be really great if we had a 7.x-2.x-dev to play around with as C.Lee says (not everybody has the necessary know-how to pull the master branch from git).

Greetings Gregory ...

I believe that Simon will not mark this release production yet, until he has finished with the custom "lines" widget - http://drupal.org/node/1057392#comment-5591178
Which might be some time.

I must admit, I was hoping to spend a little more time with the D7 port once it was out, but the powers that be, have just not let that happen.

Great to see so many people interested in these modules and maybe a few more people might help make the load a little lighter.

I'm sure we will be chatting soon!!

Thanks
