Installed JW player and modules as described. (installed in libraries directory) Everything seems to be working the way it should be. However, in the "status report", a message is showing up telling the path to jwplayer.js and player.swf is not correct. I have seen a previous post frm Skillip changing the absolute path to these files.
I am quite sure the path is OK but it seems as if it needs an absolute path.......?

Where is the JW Player library located and what is the exact error message that you are seeing? I've tested /profiles/myprofile/libraries/jwplayer and sites/all/libraries/jwplayer and have not found any issues with the status report screen.

longtail content : sites/all/libraries/jwplayer

drupal contibution content: sitres/modules/jw_player/theme

Meanwhile the JW player is working properly. Only thing still to do is to have the possiblity to add a background "starting" image

@RicoRico For more information on the situation with setting a starting image see #1395584: Provide image poster (with configuration to select the source). At present it is possible to set a poster manually but nothing is automatic as the image could come from a number of places. You can implement hook_preprocess_jw_player() to set the image or if you are calling the theme function directly you can do the following:

theme('jw_player', $variables = array(
  'file_object' => $file,
  'preset' => 'your_preset',
  'poster' => '/path-to/poster',

I hope this gets you on your way. I'd be happy to have this configurable via the UI but I do not have the remit from work to do so on their time. I'm closing this issue as JW Player seems to be working properly for you now.

I am also getting this error in my reports.

The file player.swf is not present in the directory sites/all/libraries/jwplayer
The file jwplayer.js is not present in the directory sites/all/libraries/jwplayer
Please consult INSTALL.txt for installation instructions.

The downloaded files for my libraries folder all have an underscore in them...

I changed jw_player.js to jwplayer.js and got the one error to go away. However, I do not have the file "player.swf" anywhere in the dl from Therefore it isn't in my libraries folder.

When I try to add this field to my display content type it only shows a large space then play/progress bar with 0:00 time and an icon for sound.

Thank you in advance!

1) Create or open sites/all/libraries/jwplayer
2) Copy the files in the this zip to the directory
