My site is up, however, I cannot access my admin pages (Structure, Appearance, People, Modules, Configuration, and Reports). I receive the WSOD after updating to 7.9 (via ftp) even after trying to run update.php (watchdog reports access denied).

Additional information that may help resolve this issue: http://www.xxx.com/xxx/admin/reports/dblog- access denied, php.ini: memory_limit = 96M.

I fixed a similar problem by restoring a temp directory at the root of my Drupal install. I did this after upgrading from 7.7 to 7.9. I hope this helps you.
