I created a mini calendar view and choose to display the day with only the first letter.
All days are good except Friday where a upper F appear instead of the lower v for "vendredi"
I didn't find where I can translate it in the admin.

KarenS CreditAttribution: KarenS commentedYou may want to look into http://drupal.org/project/l10n_client. You also need to be sure you have the right language available and that you have the Date translations on your site (try out http://drupal.org/project/l10n_update for that). The Date module includes the one and two letter month names as translatable fields, but someone has to make sure they are actually translated.
Other than that, you'll need to dig through the translation documentation to figure this out. Translations are handled separately from the module code, I have nothing much to do with it.
