I agree. I think the theme already helps, but using a different imagecache preset would be a possibility as well. As the module uses a separate view, this is easy to do. I just had no idea what the preset should do differently... Do you have an idea?

A default preset? I have no idea :)
I know what preset use for my specific case, but it would be specific for a custom gallery: an image overlay with a gallery icon.
For general purpose: I would set by default the same preset as a normal gallery, and then let the users create a custom one if they need it

Mhm, ok, but without a "special" default, it's not so different from the way it is now. You can already use a specific imagecache by just changing the preset in the View.
