Since field tokens are quite limited, we need a page listing what they currently are limit to and what is going to be added when the support gets more complete.

It would also be a a good idea to come up with a suggestion on how other contrib modules can document if their features extending the field API will have field token support or not.

This information also needs to include what is actually stored in the field so users have a better knowledge about what value they will actually get using a field token, often it is not what the user expected.

I set this as a major priority as it will save a lot of support requests.

This is hard to do actually. The base-level tokens use the normal field rendering via field_view_field() which is up to the default settings for how that field is displayed on the 'Manage display' tab of the relevant entity type and bundle.
