So, I installed the Advanced Forum module under Drupal 7 but I did not get the link to create new topic in the forum page. A quick search turned-up some past issues that were supposedly solved in earlier dev releases. But even the latest (7.x-2.x-dev) did not solve this for me.
So, as a way to solve this myself, I wanted to create a "Pages" panel with the required link hard-coded in a text panel. But there was a disabled "Forum page" structure already present. I just enabled it and, voila, the "New Topic" is enabled in the forum!
Is this "Page" supposed to be enabled by default all along? Or, did I mis-configure something when installing some related module, like Panels? I am just glad I did not have to mess around to get this working.

I am posting this here because it may help others in a similar predicament.

I had this problem when I generated somme "terms" with admin module "Devel" with "clear before" option enabled.
Effectively, field "Forums" in "Topics structure is linked with this set of terms. Damned!
I cleared the set and recreate the field and then it works fine The link reappears, but dont reapears if I desactivated the "Adavanced Forums".
Then I have to use this module now!

"Add New Topic" appears now! But "Add New FAQ" appears when "FAQ Module" is enabled! See You.
