I installed this mod, cleared my cache but along with this new menu, I'm seeing the original Admin menu directly underneath this mod's Admin menu - so basically now have two Admin menus! How can I disable the original, default Admin menu?

Views has nothing to do with admin menu; unfortunately we are unable to answer the question. Perhaps you should ask in admin_menu?

You need to disable the toolbar module included with core.

Please pay attention to what michelle says. The "toolbar" module included with core set of modules should be disabled!!NOT the "Administration menu Toolbar style" module that appears after you install "Administration menu" module included in administration set of modules.
Worked for me. No "menu block" module needed neither the solution of primary block setting.

I went through years without devoting any time to this really minor but staggering annoyance, until I just broke down today and looked it up, finally.

Then I spent months of patches and patches, PHP and CSS, to no avail. - Yet today, simply, yes--I disabled the Overlay and Toolbar modules. Wow.

The problem with theoretical research is that it ignores the obvious. And that's exactly what I did and tend to do. I could also have just scrolled down to this last comment which did the same thing 3 years ago. Good God Almighty that damn duplicate menu is gone!
