Only use the "basic" mode for week and day views

I've set the initial display of my calendar to "Week (Basic)" and it works when I view the calendar. However if I click the "week" button on the calendar page, it takes me to agenda mode. I would like it to only show the basic mode. Is there a way to only show basic mode and never agenda?

This also happens for the "Day (Basic)" mode as well.
