Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
Content in the 'About Drupal' book will be used as a basis for the new 'Why Drupal' Section on Drupal.org #2516956: Create 'About' Section.
Audit and migration plan for the existing content is in progress:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LgK9-hKEA2AZ81NN2eMXrygCkX2f2PE_...
Parts of the book content will be migrated to different Sections, not necessarily Why Drupal. No decisions were made about Security team related content, we'll be discussing those with the Security Working Group when we start working on the new 'Security' Section.

ronnienorwood CreditAttribution: ronnienorwood commentedNo problem. Thanks for the edit access. For now, I'll plan to block out some time on Tuesday afternoons for this.
Since I don't see any priority column, I will just start with the lower depth items and work my way up.

MGParisi CreditAttribution: MGParisi commentedWould having the ability to create a node relationship within books so that individual book pages to have multiple parents?
My idea is that (for example) Process Documentation can be located through out the book structure. A Process on how to contribute to core can belong to core documentation, getting involved and other resources.
I am almost to the point of suggesting a more advanced taxonomy solution that would allow for tags to link documentation together.

ronnienorwood CreditAttribution: ronnienorwood commentedfor security advisory page, spreadsheet says 'security advisories' link goes to contrib tab of advisories page....is that not right or is it supposed to go to drupal core tab instead ??

mgiffordA bunch of the pages in the spreadsheet (which is still available) no longer exist.
Would be great to bring this todo from a GoogleDoc that most folks can't write to, to a todo list somewhere that we can.

a) incorporating the changes that are listed above into it, and
b) creating a public to-do list somewhere that everyone can access (suggestions welcome!)

jhodgdonI believe the About Drupal book is outside of the realm of Documentation, so moving this (old) issue to the Content queue.

tvn CreditAttribution: tvn at Drupal Association commentedAs we are starting to implement content strategy recommendations, the first top level Section we'll be working on is 'Why Drupal'. Content in 'About Drupal' book will be basis for this new Section. To prepare for the content migration bradleyfields is working on a content audit and migration plan for the 'About Drupal' book content. Updating issue summary.

tvn CreditAttribution: tvn at Drupal Association commentedThis is now done. /about area was re-launched as a Section with curated editorial content about Drupal, aimed primarily at Newcomers and Learners, with the goal to promote Drupal.
The content in About book was audited and either migrated into the new Section using 'page' content type, archived, or simply moved our of the Section until we create a more appropriate place for it.
