Stuck

Hey all. I'm new to drupal, and have been trying to go through all the literature I can find to figure out how to customize my pages(I'm converting a site to drupal). I can't seem to find any that gives me exactly what I want. My knowledge of PHP is limited, but I can follow most code.
The site I'm trying to covert is http://www.chunky-jewelry.com I basically want to know how I can create, style and position divs, not only on the front page, but subsequent pages.

I have so far managed to add the header(that was easy to do) but the body text and formatting(I will be using CSS to style)...I don't know where to start.
