If I want to have some fotos or graphics on my pages what is the 'correct' way of doing that?

I tried to make a normal IMG SRC="xxxx" and that worked, but then I have to have an image folder etc.

Is there a recomended way to add images to pages?

You could always pop on over to the Download page and get a copy of image.module . It's really nice, and should do what you're after.
