I can't reproduce this. I tried to place the search box both in the header and in the right column and it works as expected. Do you have any ideas about what is causing the notice? Is it the same notice if you place the search box in the header?

I place search block in the right sidebar - tried with that region only.
Go to the front page where block appears.
Everything is fine. Search is done.
But if I click to configure block - from the main page - I am taken to the block configuration page and that notice pops up.
Notice: Undefined index: pager_total_items in include() (line 29 of C:\xampp\htdocs\drupal\sites\all\themes\simpleclean\search-results.tpl.php).
Here the path /admin/structure/block/manage/search/form/configure?destination=search/node/ffff
fffff is my search string. Don't have much to search for)
i have no clue what this notice is about.

Thanks for a really good bug report! You get the notice when your search for something and get no hits, then tries to configure the block. I fixed it by moving the pager code into the if-statement in the search-results.tpl.php.

I pushed this to head and it's going into next release. Thank you mefisto75 for making Simple Clean better!
