Could you post a link to a doc page, blog post, or a video of a talk to support this standard? I'm not against it necessarily, it would just take some work and have a few deleterious effects on the module's findability in searches, drush, etc.

Sure Bryan, this is more for core, but I am hoping to see this field in there someday :)
