I've just transferred by Drupal site to a new server. Everything is working fine except the administration theme. I'm trying to select Garland as the administration theme, but it will only use the default (front-end) theme.

Garland is selected in the menu and enabled in themes so it should work.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Make sure that selected theme setting in your profile (user/X/edit) is reset back to default theme.

I have a similar issue on D6; I'm trying to enable different themes for anonymous users (= default theme), and logged in users (in this case just user #1). Usually I'd set something like 'Garland' as default theme at ./admin/build/themes/select, and the customized (Fusion/Skinr) theme at ./user/1/edit. However, this doesn't work as expected: Everybody gets 'Garland', and the customized setting for user #1 is being ignored.

Even worse, if I set the customized theme as system default, everybody actually gets the customized theme - at least partial: Only the logged-in users get the "full" theme, anonymous user see ony broken fragments of it (some CSS isn't loaded properly, e.g. all Skinr classes are missing).

This is a dev site; the live site behaves similarily strange: The default theme settings are also ignored. There lives an old, Minelly-based sub theme which gets loaded no matter what default theme is configured.

Maybe also noteworthy: Switching the admin theme works flawlessly in this case (e.g. to 'Seven' or the 'Fusion core' base theme).

Any ideas?

This has just randomly happened to me and I don't have a clue why, I haven't changed anything that would cause this and I am not specifying it in the settings.php either. One day its garland as the admin theme, the next, no matter what I choose in the settings page it shows the default theme only. I even checked to make sure that garland was activated.

Incidentally, I tried going to my user profile page and changing my preferred theme to something else, then back to the default, and although it didn't do anything straight away, it did suddently start working after I wrote the above message and visited the admin home page - typical

I just had the same issue and for me it was the Theme Role Switcher module that was causing this problem. All of the sudden the admin theme stopped working and no matter what I did I couldn't get it back. After disabling Theme Role Switcher, it worked again.

My client has just been on the phone telling me that the administration theme has gone. This ties in with the hosting company upgrading to PHP 5.3

Is it linked? Seems like it probably is to me.
