I've set up a couple of D6 sites and a D7 site without this problem but this is the first time I have set up a 'Development' site on my local computer...

I set up an environment using MAMP on my local OSX box.

I then installed a site in /pants

My htaccess file has been changed thusly:

 # Modify the RewriteBase if you are using Drupal in a subdirectory or in a
  # VirtualDocumentRoot and the rewrite rules are not working properly.
  # For example if your site is at http://example.com/drupal uncomment and
  # modify the following line:
   RewriteBase /pants

When I try to insert an image in a post I can see the image whilst editing but as soon as I save the post, all I see is the image path, which is correct but no image is rendered in the browser.

I get:

In the first instance I am linking a thumbnail to a larger image and in the second instance I am just inserting an image with no link.

What am I doing wrong?

I have clean URL's running but it makes no difference if I turn that off. I have cleared site caches and browser cache.

Something basic I'm sure... :-)

Hoping for some help! :-)

do a view source of the page and see where it is picking the image from.

I'm seeing

 <div class="content">
    <div id="node-3" class="node node-page node-full clearfix" about="/pants/node/3" typeof="foaf:Document">

  <div class="content clearfix">
    <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>[url=http://localhost:8888/pants/sites/default/files/imagepicker/1/3colourG.cross.2.jpg][img]http://localhost:8888/pants/sites/default/files/imagepicker/1/thumbs/3colourG.cross.2.jpg[/img][/url]</p>
</div></div></div>  </div>

Looks to me like the paths are correct...?

I'm not getting any broken images or errors, just the html.

Any thoughts?

I have torn the site down and started from scratch again and still this problem persists.

Other html in posts seem to render just fine but not [img] tags.

I don't have any html filters active at all.

No ideas from anyone?

I'm getting somewhere...

I tore the site down *again* and re-installed everything.

When I enable the 'BB Code' button in TinyMCE, my images break consistently and all I see is html.

Hope this helps someone...

I've set up a few sites on online servers but when I set up drupal 7 on localhost all images render broken. All the paths are correct when I view the pace source. Someone suggested using .htaccess. Is there some way we can override this problem with .htaccess? I found this thread: http://drupal.org/node/988714

I'm new to Drupal and was following along with one of those in-depth how-tos, but I gave up after working for a whole night and the better part of another day just to place an inline image into a post, where I wanted it.

It wouldn't work for me no matter what I did.

I just saw your comment about unchecking BB Code and restored my Drupal installition and tried it. IT WAS THAT SIMPLE!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, because I really think that Drupal is the platform I want to use. I had just been frustrated because my site will be about images more than anything else. Now, back to square two!

Please, could you be more precise.. WHERE am I able to uncheck BB code..?

Home » Administration » Configuration » Content authoring » Text formats
Filter HTML --> Configure
Filter settings --> Limited Allowed HTML Tags
Add <img>

No programming needed.
Have a good day.
